Instantly Measure Coatings – with only one hand!
This simple-to-use instrument measures the coating thickness of almost any non- magnetic coating on both ferrous (magnetic) and non-ferrous (non-magnetic) substrates. Plating, painting, anodizing, organic coatings and more can be measured with this simple, non-destructive test. The LZ990 automatically determines the substrate and uses the appropriate measurement circuit.
Measurements are shown on the large LCD and retained until the next test is taken. Up to 1000 measurements can be stored and then sent to a PC or printer with the optional cables. An internal statistical program allows operators to quantify the aver- age, hi/low and standard deviation of lots - simplifying accept/reject decisions.
Simple Operation - Research Grade Results
To test a sample, simply select the calibration to be used (16 are available), place the instrument directly on the part, and in less than one second, the thickness will be displayed on the large LCD - in either mils (.001 inch) or microns (.001mm).

Outstanding Measurement Stability
In addition to the materials used in the manufacture of a coating gauge, the main key to providing accurate, repeatable measurements is the ability of the operator to reliably make consistent contact between the instrument and the test surface. Our engineers have designed the LZ990 to assist in that goal. The probe is spring loaded, built in edge guides are provided for curved and edged surfaces and the foot of the probe is designed to provide a firm platform when placed onto the test piece..... all necessary to help provide your staff with the confidence to depend on the test results.
Other than the spring-loaded probe, the LZ990 has no moving parts and is impervi- ous by vibration and independent of orientation of the instrument. This allows it to be utilized on the manufacturing floor, providing instant feedback to your staff. Inte- grated temperature compensation allows the measurement to be taken at any stage of the process in any manufacturing/fabrication environment
